Restoring reefs for community

South Australia’s harmful algal bloom turned much needed attention to our coastal waters and highlighted the value of restoring native shellfish reefs, for our environment and for our coastal communities.

We aim to restore 25 native shellfish reefs across Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island by the end of 2028 with the support of local communities.

The reefs will provide valuable ecological and socio-economic evidence, to inform further restoration efforts.
